How to Fix GMC Product Price Mismatch Warnings

Why You’re Seeing This Merchant Center Disapproval

A Mismatched Product Price disapproval occurs when the price submitted in your product feed differs from the price displayed on your landing page.

Google routinely cross-checks the pricing data on your website, your feed, and your structured data to ensure consistency. When discrepancies are found, products may be disapproved, impacting your Google Shopping campaigns and reducing visibility.

At FeedSpark, we understand how pricing inconsistencies can quickly derail a campaign. Our approach aligns your product data across all platforms to ensure a seamless shopping experience.

Where to Find the Mismatched Price Disapproval

To locate this disapproval:

  1. Log in to your Google Merchant Center account

  2. Navigate to the Products section in the left-hand menu

  3. Click on the ‘Needs attention’ tab

  4. Look for the Mismatched Product Price disapproval under the relevant error details

Clicking on the warning will display a list of affected products and details about the price discrepancies.

Common Causes of Mismatched Price Disapprovals

In our experience, we see price mismatches occurring due to several factors:

  1. Inconsistent Product Feed and Landing Page Data: The feed might list a price (e.g, £4) while the landing page shows a different price (e.g, £2).

  2. Mismatch in Structured Data: Google checks your site’s structured data (schema markup) for product details. If the price differs from the feed or landing page, a disapproval is triggered.

  3. Multiple Variants with the Same Product URL: When different product variants (such as sizes or colours) share the same URL and have different prices, Google may not correctly interpret the pricing information.

  4. Google Crawling Issues: Technical issues, such as slow load times or blocked pages, may cause Googlebot to retrieve outdated or incorrect price data.

  5. Membership Price Issues: If your feed shows a membership price while your landing page displays the regular price, Google will detect this discrepancy.

  6. Minimum Order Quantity (MOQ) Products: If your feed lists a single unit price but your landing page requires a minimum order quantity, the total price may differ from what Google expects.

How to Fix the Mismatched Price Issue

1. Align Product Feed and Landing Page Data

  • Ensure that the price in your product feed exactly matches what is displayed on your landing page.

  • Use Google Merchant Center tools, such as the Diagnostics section, to identify any price discrepancies.

  • Regularly update your feed, especially if prices change frequently.

2. Verify Structured Data Accuracy

  • Confirm that the price listed in your structured data is identical to the feed and landing page.

  • Utilise tools like Google’s Rich Results Test to check your implementation.

  • Correct any errors, as unresolved structured data issues can trigger account suspensions.

3. Address Multiple Variants on a Single URL

  • Where possible, assign unique URLs for each product variant to clearly define individual prices.

  • If using the same URL, ensure your structured data clearly differentiates between the variants.

4. Resolve Google Crawling Issues

  • Optimise your website to improve load times and ensure pages are accessible to Googlebot.

  • If you suspect a crawl error, request a manual review via the Google Merchant Center’s “Needs Attention” tab.

5. Standardise Membership Pricing

  • Ensure that both your product feed and landing page display the same pricing structure.

  • Decide whether to show membership pricing or regular pricing consistently across all platforms.

  • If you want to display membership prices, consider using the loyalty program feature in Google Merchant Center.

6. Manage Minimum Order Quantity Products

  • If a minimum order is required, update your feed to reflect the total price for the specified quantity.

  • Alternatively, display both the single unit price and the total price based on MOQ on your landing page.

  • Including MOQ details in the product title or description can also help clarify pricing for both customers and Google.
